Despite a worldwide pandemic, many animals still needed our help at the Heartland Humane Society this year. Each day, we see how the virus has infiltrated every part of our lives, including individuals having to make tough choices about basic things like pet food and veterinary care. 

Our role is to help families and their pet weather the storm. Our staff continues to show up every day to provide support and hope for animals. we see how the pandemic is affecting our community's most vulnerable humans and animals every day. 

We're happy to report that we have helped 488 animals so far in 2020 and are looking to continue serving our community's pets and their owners for years to come. COVID-19 not only altered the way we do business in the shelter, but it has changed the way we raise money to fund our services. This year, in lieu of Heartland Humane Society's annual Wine and Whiskers gala--our biggest and most important annual fundraiser--we offer a safe, fun, and delicious way you can support our efforts to reduce the number of homeless pets in our community through adoptions, education, and spay and neuter surgeries. 

Each raffle ticket or party pack you purchase lets us help animals such as Harry and Tough Guy, two puppies from a nearby rural location who came to us very sick and are now in loving forever homes, or Broccoli, Butter, and Clementine, three young kittens found in a drain pipe in Vermillion and are all currently enjoying snuggles with their new human families.

Ordering party packages have expired. On Thursday, October 22 we will tap the Ben's Brewing keg starting at 4:30pm. Feel free to come join us! Masks encouraged. Limit 6 persons per table. For those who ordered a package, please plan to pick up 10/23  either Heartland Humane Society or Valiant Vineyards in Vermillion between 5pm and 7pm on Friday, October 23.
